After Hours: A Private Evening at Piaget Boutique, Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong

There is an enviable scene in Sweet Home Alabama, where Patrick Dempsey proposes to Reese Witherspoon's character by offering her the choice of any engagement ring she fancies from the shelves of Tiffany & Co.'s flagship boutique in New York City.

As part of the hubby's Valentine's Day plans earlier this year, I was swept off my feet in an evening of movie-like magic with my very own "Sweet Home Alabama moment" at the Piaget BoutiqueMandarin Oriental Hong Kong, the Swiss watchmaker's Asia flagship store.

Browsing the collection under the watchful guidance of the store manager and helpful assistants, Joey and Joey, I was first introduced to the story behind the Piaget Rose jewellery line. This collection is based on a real flower, the Yves Piaget Rose, which was created in 1982 when the winner of the Geneva International New Rose Competition named his prizewinning bloom in honour of Yves Piaget. I try on the Piaget Rose white gold and diamond earrings, which are simple yet elegant; casual enough to be worn everyday (great for the office!).

However, my pick of the evening is a watch from the Piaget Possession Collection. Apart from the rose gold watch face (we are loving rose gold at the moment), the unique selling point of this watch is the ability for the user to change the band on whim (and within a few seconds - even someone as uncoordinated and clumsy as yours truly). This is perfect for those who want a watch with the flexibility to match your outfit, be it laid back or dressy.

Watch bands in a variety of colours, design and materials - all with the ability to be interchanged!
Feeling very treasured and to celebrate our fourth Valentine's Day together, the hubby and I are shown to the "VIP Room" and are greeted by the welcome sight of champagne, chocolates and roses.

Needless to say, I am incredibly thankful for having a hubby who has a knack for planning surprises - it will be difficult for me to match this on our next milestone!

And thank you also to the Piaget team (pictured above) for being in on the surprise and helping to execute it seamlessly.

xx (a very spoilt) Amanda
