Egg Tarts at Tai Cheong Bakery

With not much to report this week, I thought I would hark back to last weekend which I spent in bustling Hong Kong. Despite the weather being hot and humid (even more so than Singapore), the Hong Kong skyline did not disappoint with gorgeous blue skies over the harbour.

After squeezing in our DIY photoshoot on Innrstyl's yoga-feel work pants, I convinced the hubby to trek to Lyndhurst Terrace in search of Tai Cheong Bakery's famous egg tarts. Word of warning: for those relying on Google maps to navigate, it does not work well in central Hong Kong due to the concentration of high rises. The hubby and I were taken around in circles in the afternoon sun before finally finding the bakery.

The bakery consists of a single counter, one side of which is filled with their signature egg tarts. There is no seating room inside, so we got ours to go and found a park bench around the corner to savour our purchase.

The verdict? The pastry was buttery and crumbly, but held together well during transit. The custard was glossy and smooth and not overly sweet. The best thing was that the tarts were fresh from the oven, and were still hot to touch. The next time I have a craving for egg tarts, I'll know where to go!
